What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device when you visit it. Cookies let a site remember things (like your cookie choices) or measure how it is used. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in much the same way, so I use the word “cookies” for all of them.
How I use cookies
I keep this to a minimum. There are two kinds on this site:
- Strictly necessary cookies keep the site secure and remember your cookie choices. They are always on, and UK law doesn’t require your consent for them.
- Analytics cookies tell me which pages are visited and how people find the site, so I can improve it. These are only set if you accept them .
I don’t use advertising or marketing cookies, I don’t show personalised ads, and I don’t track you across other websites.

Google Analytics and Consent Mode
If you decline analytics, Google Analytics sets no cookies on your device. The site uses Google Consent Mode, so Google may still receive limited, cookieless signals (for example that a page loaded and that consent was declined). They are used in aggregate modelling and don’t identify you. Analytics data is deleted automatically after 14 months.
The contact form
The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks whether you are a person without puzzles or tracking cookies. More detail is in the Privacy Policy .
Fonts, scripts and other third parties
Some code libraries and fonts that power the site’s design and animations load from public content delivery networks. They don’t set cookies on this site, but they do receive your IP address when your browser requests the files. The Privacy Policy lists them.
Changing your mind
You can accept, reject, or change your choices at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent stops analytics cookies from being set from then on.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to work properly, so blocking them may affect it. Instructions for common browsers:
